Space A was a mixed gender techno, dance group from the late 1990s and early 2000s. They debuted in 1997 and faded into obscurity in 2003. They reunited in 2013 briefly, however. They were a trio at first. The original members consisted of Kim Hyun Jung (김현정) as main vocalist, rapper Jung Soon Won (정순원) who is well known as The One (더원) and E-gu (이구).

Space A (1997)

Their self-titled debut album was released in October of 1997. The album is considered to be the first enhanced CD in Korea to play a music video on a computer. There were 3 singles to the album: 입술, which was the music video featured on the album. 주홍글씨 and 돈쥬앙.

Kang Ji Yeon (강지연) became a temporary addition into the group. They rereleased the album in 1998 in order to include her vocals only for the single, 주홍글씨. However, the music video only featured the original trio.

The music video for 주홍글씨 cost about 150,000,000 won, which in U.S. dollars is about $114,000 to make. It was the first considered most expensive music video in Korean history because of the use of high-quality computer graphics and miniature sets. Copyright and plagiarism problems arose due the music video resembling a scene in a Korean movie named 공각기동대. It is unclear however if the lawsuits were ever dropped or how they were compromised. 입술 was controversial because if it's suggestive lyrics and the music video was banned from being played on cable TV. 주홍글씨 although became their more widely known single out of the three.

After their first album in 1998, both Soon Won, E-gu and temporary member Ji Yeon left the group. They were replaced by Lulu (루루), Jason (제이슨) and Park Jae Gu (박재구), who was in the short-lived group Comma (콤마).

Maturation (1999)

Their second album was released in 1999 with Lulu, Jason, Jae Gu and original member Kim Hyun Jung. The album was their biggest success. The two singles were: 성숙 and 섹시한 남자. 섹시한 남자 was a big hit and quickly emerged in popularity and was played heavily at many nightclubs in Korea. However, the album itself sold about 90,000 copies.

Quickly after the second album, Kim Hyun-jung was again replaced by Ahn Yoo Jin (안유진). Jason left the group as well and was replaced by Jun Han Young (준한영) also known as J.G.

Power Secondary (2000)

Their third album was released in 2000 with members J.G., Yoo Jin, Lulu and Jae Gu as being the new members of the group. It did not really gain a lot of success or much attention as their last album did. One of their singles, 배신의 계절 showed scenes from the 1993 Japanese anime movie Ninja Scroll. The other two singles were 어떤 욕심 and 아름다운 이별 which were both featured in the O.S.T. for the SBS drama Juliet (줄리엣의 남자). Two versions of the album were released. The first version was an enhanced CD which featured a music video and bonus tracks. The other version does not include these extras.

City Mania (2001)

Space A released their final album in 2001 and transferred to S.M. Entertainment. Like Power Secondary, it did not gain much attention. The singles were: 바람난 남자 and Again. 바람난 남자 was a controversial song because if its suggestive lyrics and like their first single, 입술 was banned from being broadcast on TV. While like it's other single on the album, Again did not gain attention at the time until recently being covered by singers Soo Eun (성은) and Beige (베이지) who did it in 2013.

Special Remix Album! (2002)

The group released a remix album which contains Yu Jin singing Again in solo.

The group became inactive in 2003.

In 2016, the group reunited on the TV show Sugarman and with the members Kim Hyun Jung, Jason, Jae Gu and Han Young being on the show.

J.G. has since gone into acting in theater and he also released a solo album in 2009 called Jesus Generation Stop The Mode.

Jae Gu went on a two-decade hiatus from music until 2019 when he released his album under the name Jaegu (재구) called Out of Control. He also entered the K3 Football League in 2020.

Yu Jin went on to become a solo artist and sang in the O.S.T. for the 2004 film Paris Lovers (파리의 연인).

Return (2004)

Lulu released her only solo album in 2004. She also briefly acted in a horror series in 2007 on the Cable Superaction Channel (케이블 슈퍼액션 채널). She has since retired from the entertainment industry and married an entrepreneur in 2009.

Kim Hyun Jung had been out of the spotlight but got married in 2008. Then, in 2017 she performed as a masked singer on the singing competition program King of Masked Singer. She also sang during that same year with Yerin of GFRIEND, 섹시한 남자 on KBS 2TV's New Year's Special Girl Group Battle - Family Glory. In 2020, she appeared on Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend where she sang a mashup of 섹시한 남자 and 주홍글씨 with guest rapper Seobaul (서바울). She and Jason momentarily were a duo and were signed to singer 리치 (Rich's) agency. Much is unknown if there were any albums or singles that they released together. Otherwise, she has worked as a solo artist since 2018.

Alongside the temporary work with Hyun Jung, Jason does solo work.

Soon Won is the most well-known under his alias name The One and has been a solo artist since 2002. He has participated in many O.S.T.s for K-dramas and films. The One has also appeared on a few singing competitions. He won I Am A Singer 2 during the finals competition. In 3 consecutive wins, he was the winner of Enduring Song 2. Finally, he appeared on the Chinese edition of I Am A Singer 2, 7 times. He used to work as a vocal trainer for S.M. Entertainment and some of his students have been artists such as Taeyeon from Girls Generation whom he has taught since she was in middle school.
