M.I.L.K

Hangul: 밀크

M.I.L.K was a short-lasting girl group that gained popularity in the early 2000s. They were signed to S.M. Entertainment's sister company BM Entertainment and officially debuted as a group on December 17, 2001. The group consisted of members Park Jae Young (), Kim Bo Mi (김보미), Bae Yu Mi (배유미) (Real name: Jessica Bae) and Seo Hyun Jin (서현진). Their group name is an acronym for Made In Lovely Kin. The only released one album. They disbanded in 2003.

S.M. technically formed the group somewhere between 1998-2000 after finding that S.E.S. was their greatest and most successful girl group at the time. S.E.S. being a 1st generation wanted M.I.L.K to be the runner-up for the 2nd generation. In a weekly magazine, it was stated and rumored that Jang Nara was originally planned to be in group, however she herself has explained that that was never the case and that she always wanted a solo career instead of being in a group.

With Freshness (2001)

Their first and only album was released on the same date as their debut on December 17, 2001. It was produced by well-known songwriter and former H.O.T member Moon Hee Jun (문희준). There were three singles released from the album: The iconic Come to Me. Crystal and Sad Letter. The group would promote and perform for the album live throughout 2002. All in all, the album was a moderate success and the group received quite a fanbase. M.I.L.K's official fanbase was called Milky Way which had around 30,000 followers who were paying to promote the group during their first album. In addition, they participated in two of SMTown's studio album/compilations: 2001 Winter Vacation - Angel Eyes and 2002 Summer Vacation.

After they saw that the first album was a passable success, M.I.L.K was starting to plan for their second album release around the summer of 2003. Interestingly, it has been said that one of the title tracks for the second album was called Girls Generation, which was then transferred to the now world-renown girl group. It was during this time that issues were arising and what caused the collapse of the group from continuing. The main issue was one of the members Yu Mi, departed from group. S.M also was debuting other girl groups who gained the same amount of success as M.I.L.K such as Sugar and Shinvi, in addition to S.M's internal company issues. The last time that M.I.L.K performed live together was at the SM Smile Concert in December of 2002. However, they seem to have disbanded in 2003.

To make matters worse, followers that were paying to be in the Milky Way fan club and were also now promoting the group's second album, never received a refund from S.M. after the group's disbanding.

As for the members, Jae Young now goes under the name Park Hee Bon (박희본) and released her solo single in 2010. She is also an actress and has appeared in many Kdramas and films. She also recently got married at a private ceremony to director Yoon Se Young in Seoul on June 16, 2016 and Seo Hyun Jin attended her wedding.

Seo Hyun Jin is considered the most successful of the group. After the disbanding, she temporarily became a solo artist and contributed to three of SM Town's studio albums/compilations: 2006 Summer Vacation and 2006 and 2007 Winter Vacation. She further contributed as a solo artist for O.S.T.s as well. Most of her work currently is acting and has been in many known K-dramas and films. Most notably her biggest breakthrough was in 2016's Another Miss Oh.

Bo Mi appeared in the music video for Fly To The Sky's 그대는 모르죠. She also served as a host for KMTV's Music Tank and appeared in the 반전극장 (Twist Theater Series). Apparently in February of 2010 she signed to Chocolate Music as a solo artist but there have been no releases from her since her signing. In 2021, she appeared in web drama series called A Millionaire (에 출연했다).

Yu Mi appeared as a rapper and dancer in a Green Tea Veggie Meal (녹차 베지밀) commercial in 2004. She also appeared in the musical for Balla Balla (발라발라) during 2004. In 2006, she did appear in the K-drama Secret Correction 2. After that, nothing has been heard from Yu-mi since.
