Hush was a short-lived R&B, Kpop duo from the late 1990s. They debuted in November 1999 and only released one album to date. The members were Jo Hyun-joo (조현주) and Kim Il-jin (김일진). Before Hush, Kim Il-jin had worked on albums for artists such as Lena Park, Lee Eun-mi (이은미) and Lee Hyun-do (이현도). The persona of the group was portrayed as a "lesbian relationship". Similar to how the female duo Sue (수) was portraying themselves.as.




Hush (1999)

Their only album to date was released in 1999. They released two singles: Hush and Lover which was composed by well-known songwriter and composer Park Eun-tae (박근태). The music video for Lover features Korean comedians such as Kim Jin-soo (김진수), Seo Kyung-seok (서경석) and the Defective Potato (불량감자).

The Phase (2002)

In 2002, Jo Hyun-joo continued on solo and went under the name Jubi (쥬비), and released her first and only album, The Phase. In an interview, Hyun-joo stated that she is heterosexual and is not gay. In addition, she has said that the "lesbian relationship" between her and Il-jin was not real when they were in Hush and that it was what their agency wanted to do for the aesthetic purposes of the duo. Hyun-joo herself has stated that marketing the duo as a lesbian couple was wrong on their agency's part. Hyun-joo under her alias, has written and performed songs for MBC dramas. Hyun-joo is married and recently ran a club in Hongdae.

As for Kim Il-jin, she became a solo pianist.
